Gulab Jamun is a widely loved dessert dish that is majorly popular in the Indian subcontinent and its neighbouring countries. These miniature balls of sweetness are loved and savoured by people from all age groups. A single serving of gulab jamun is packed with enough flavour profile to give a satisfying finish to every meal.
Gulab Jamun is a dessert that is derived from milk solids which means that the softballs are made by reducing milk to the form of a dough. These milk solids are commonly referred to as khoya in the Indian market which is then transformed into several even shaped balls after the dough is set. The balls are then deep-fried in oil and later soaked in a sugar syrup which is traditionally flavoured with saffron.
We also get to experience a crunchy texture with the gulab jamun as it is garnished with dry fruits such as crushed almonds and cashews. A gulab jamun can be considered as a favourite Indian dessert since it is served widely in India during major cultural festivals and important life events such as a wedding. The preparation of gulab jamun can be a time-consuming process, however, the process can be made easier by using an appropriate instant mix to make the dough ready.

Ingredient List:
- Aashirvaad Gulab Jamun Instant Mix (175 g)
- 1 and ½ cups Water
- 3 cups Sugar
- 2 tbsp Almond Powder
- 1 tsp Cardamom Powder
- 2 tbsp Ghee
- 1 tsp Saffron
- 1 tbsp Pistachio (chopped)
- 1 tbsp Almonds (chopped)
Preparation:
Take a container and add sugar and water to it. Boil this mixture for 10-12 mins on a medium flame till the mixture starts boiling. This mixture should be slightly sticky with one string consistency. You can check this by taking a slight portion of the mixture on a wooden spoon and holding it between your index and your thumb finger. It should create a slight sticky string between your fingers.
Take a bowl and add Aashirvaad Gulab Jamun Instant Mix to it, gradually add water to the mix in small amounts and start mixing. Do not knead the mixture, only mix it gently to form a soft dough, this dough will be used for the outer filling. For the inner filling take some amount of the dough that we made and add almond powder, cardamom powder and saffron to it.
Mix it with the dough and roll this dough into smaller balls, take the other part of the dough and roll it around these balls to make our stuffed balls. Deep fry these balls on a low flame till these balls become golden brown. Dip these gulab jamuns in the sugar syrup and let them soak, remove the gulab jamuns and garnish with chopped pistachio and almonds.
